Cmplexia Part 1 illustration

I'm going to do a set of 5 pieces each exploring how complex a piece can go before it goes into reverse. It's a fine line as you know - go too complex and it becomes one blob, the eye simply don't know where to look - keep it too simple and the viewer isn't draw in deeper. I've made both the construction and composition amazingly deep with 1000's of layers at a stagering physical size (master is 2.6 x 3.6 m @ 350dpi!!!! and layered!!!!!) and then, I've also gone as far on the post production as possible, before the image is again destroyed. This is purely an experement to see how the blend of technogy and creative can mash together.

Anyway here's the first of the "complexia" set :)).

DMA Awards

I was asked to create the illustrations for a new multi-media campaign for the DMA Awards, the direct marketing industry’s biggest awards programme. Elements include direct mail, posters, emails, brochures, table plans and cards. It will also produce the design work for the book of the night, the DMA Annual.

Creative features a visualisation of the chemical reaction, or synapse, that takes place in someone’s brain at the exact moment they win an award. The image is an artist’s impression, based on scientific drawings of the explosion. The lead image, in DMA Awards red, will be used on the DM, with emails and posters featuring alternative synapses. DM copy reads: “This is what winning a DMA looks like inside your brain. It only lasts for .014 of a second. But the memory lasts forever.”

This advert for the Veloster teases the consumer in, firstly they see the impossible road way surrounded by the parts of the car that make it unique in it's core market. Then they will read into the subtle text that lists these attributes. Strong branding supports all this and then small detailed shots to help drive their curiosity as the main shot shows only the fine detailing of the car. This should be enough to drive the consumer further and look into the web page, creating a vibe of mystery and intrigue, thereby making them remember the car in a powerful and positive way.

A cheeky little test piece for O2 showcasing O2's direct appeal to the youth market by capitalizing on there brand position as sole retailer of the iPhone. They are doing this by making other handsets target the exact same marketplace. Fluid movements and simple clean lines make this advert both clear and rememberable.

I am working on two hush hush projects at the moment, the first is for one of the worlds largest sporting events and the other is for a TV launch. Both are great fun and I can't wait to show you all. Wish I could tell you more right now but they'll be up here soon.

Broadway NYC fashion

Broadway NYC is a fantastic forward thinking fashion brand with a great following, I was honored when they contacted me to come up with the goods for their 2009 campaign graphics which composes of press and TV work. The campaign was all about human qualities and the way we think of peace, tolerance and love. A lot of love went into producing this set, thats all I can say.

The first press and motion work have gone live this month and the rest will roll out over the next few months, so here's the first press advert and the motion can be seen at www.broadway-fashion.com.

Our latest exciting work as part of the ‘Mother Of All Broadband’ campaign for Virgin is now ready to view online!

The brief to produce an interactive banner to tie in with the latest TV commercials produced by Rapier. Creative Director Matt Page worked with me to complete all the illustration work, followed by our lovely friends at The Tin who used their flash skills to produce the Mother of All Banners. And despite the tight budget – and even tighter deadline – you must agree, the end result is superb!

SupperClub Beauty Launch

BBC's Pathaan is responsible for the music selection and artist Neil Duerden (Me ;) for the artwork. Great launch party in the heart of Amsterdam and thanks again to everyone involved.

‘supperclub beauty’ is the third album in the supperclub ninesins series. In this serie supperclub explores nine modern sins through music and art. For each album a dj is invited to select and mix the music and a young upcoming artist to create a work of art. This results in nine controversial double albums and nine works of art each with a different sin as its theme. Of each work of art, a limited edition of 10 original prints are available for sale.
